Jamie Andrews is a British répétiteur, conductor and organist who is currently the Trainee Répétiteur at the English National Opera. Prior to this, Jamie was a Répétiteur Fellow at the Royal Academy of Music, where he played for Handel’s Ariodante conducted by David Bates (in which Jamie also played harpsichord continuo in the performances) and a Martinů double bill conducted by Lada Valešová. Jamie also attended the 2024 Solti-Peretti course for répétiteurs, learning from Jonathan Papp, Rodrigo de Vera, Anthony Legge and Richard Bonynge. In the summer of 2024, he was the répétiteur for Garsington Opera’s production of Verdi’s Un giorno di regno, conducted by Chris Hopkins and directed by Christopher Alden.
As an organist, Jamie was the Organ Scholar at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea 2023–4, where he worked with the Director of Music, William Vann, and conducted the professional choir in his absence. Before this, he was an Organ Scholar at New College, Oxford, graduating with first-class honours in music. During his time at Oxford, he was a Répétiteur Scholar for New Chamber Opera, where he made his conducting debut in Spring 2023 with Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti. At the age of 16, Jamie was awarded the prestigious Andrew Lloyd Webber Music Scholarship to study at Eton College. During this time, he studied piano with Libby Burgess and James Kirby and organ with David Goode. Jamie has been an Associate of the Royal College of Organists since 2019.
